Michael Wade, Ph.D. – Moderator

Michael Wade is a Professor of Innovation and Strategy at IMD and holds the Cisco Chair in Digital Business Transformation. He is also the Director of IMD’s Global Center for Digital Business Transformation. Michael has been named one of the top ten digital thought leaders in Switzerland several times by a jury of business media, most recently in 2020. He has published ten books and more than a hundred case studies and articles on a variety of topics, including digital business transformation, innovation, strategy, and digital leadership. One of his MISQ articles was among the top 20 cited articles in business, management and accounting worldwide for five years, according to Scopus. His latest book is 2021’s ALIEN Thinking: How to Bring Your Breakthrough Ideas to Life. His 2019 book, Orchestrating Transformation: How to Deliver Winning Performance with a Connected Approach to Change won multiple awards. 2016’s Digital Vortex: How Today’s Market Leaders Can Beat Disruptive Competitors at their Own Game was a best-seller across multiple languages. Lately, Michael has been working on a podcast called Management under the Microscope, where he unpacks business myths through conversations with academics and business executives.

Michael McGarry – VP and US Life Insurance CIO, Genworth

Michael McGarry has been Genworth’s Chief Information Officer since July 2016. Prior to that, he served as Genworth’s Chief Technology Officer from 2001 to 2016, where he was responsible for finance systems, sourcing and security, and represented Information Technology, Operations and Sourcing during business acquisition and divestiture negotiations. Mike held positions of increasing responsibility, predominantly in Information Technology, at General Electric’s Lighting division prior to joining Genworth in 2001. Mike received a BS in computer science from John Carroll University, an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, and is currently a doctoral student at Temple University’s Fox School of Business.

Diane Schnupp – Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Kinsale Capital Group

Diane Schnupp has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Kinsale Capital Group since March 2021. Schnupp joined the Company in May 2019 and previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining the Company, Schnupp served as Principal Consultant at Impact Makers, Inc., a management and technology consulting firm, where she led the Information Security practice area. Prior to that role, Schnupp served as Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Capital Center, LLC, a licensed mortgage and real estate broker in Virginia.  Schnupp also held various roles at Genworth Financial, Inc., a Fortune 500 insurance holding company, including Director, Marketing Automation.  Schnupp earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in Technology Management from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Alexandre Synnett – Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec (CDPQ)

Alexandre Synnett has been Executive Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer since June 2020. His primary mandate is to pilot CDPQ’s technology strategy, which aims to create even more value through an integrated approach. His responsibilities include investment activities and technology risk management, as well as the organization’s digital transformation. He sits on the Executive Committee.  Synnett has over 20 years of experience in information technology and operations, primarily in the financial sector. He joined CDPQ in May 2010, and before his appointment held the role of Executive Vice-President, Digital Technology and Operations. Prior to that position he was Vice-President responsible for the Business Intelligence Centre of Expertise, Data Management and Data Management/Operations, Private Equity and Infrastructure. He was promoted to Senior Vice-President, Operations, in 2017. Before joining CDPQ, Synnett held the roles of Senior Director of the Business Intelligence Centre of Expertise and Vice-President, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence at National Bank of Canada. He holds an MBA with a specialization in financial services from Université du Québec à Montréal, a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology Sciences from École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS-UQAM) and an Advanced Certificate for Executives in Management (ACE) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
